Cannot Install Visual Studio 2015 Update 2

I apologize if I ask about this in the wrong place, but since it concerns IDE coding, I do not know where else to go.

I just can't install Visual Studio 2015 Update 2 on my new installation of Windows 10 Pro (Office 2013 only) and the fresh Visual Studio 2015 Community Edition. p>

Error:

Visual Studio 2015 Update 2 Cannot Install

And as soon as this error occurs, Visual Studio no longer works.

I might think about skipping this update, but I need to install the Mobile Programming Packs (Xamarin), and they need to install the update for Visual Studio 2015 Update 2.

I searched the net for the error "0x80070490" but nothing came up due to Visual Studio.

Since the entire log file is too large to fit here, these are lines containing the phrase "error":

I also had a "missing or damaged KB3022398 package" error when trying to upgrade VS2015 Update CE 2 to version 3.
I tried to completely remove VS2015 Community Edition, and also remove things from the following, but it still doesn't work:

  • C: \ Users \ <Windows username / username> \ AppData \ Local \ Temp
  • C: \ ProgramData \ Package Cache (although I do not quite recommend this, these packages are used when removing various VS2015 functions from the control panel)
  • C: \ Users \ <Windows username / username> \ AppData \ Roaming \ Microsoft \ VisualStudio
  • VisualStudio , VisualStudio Services , VSCommon , VsGraphics by C: \ Users \ & lt, Windows Username / Username> \ AppData \ Local \ Microsoft
  • C: \ Users \ <Windows username / username> \ Documents \ Visual Studio 2015 (I haven’t tried this, but I don’t think it’s a criminal, as it relates to your themes and projects).

Other things I tried that didn't work:

  • Using the Web Installer for the Visual Studio 2015 Community Update 3 - Free (vs_community.exe)
  • Using ISO for Visual Studio 2015 Community Update 3 - Free
I also checked the integrity of the downloaded ISO, and everything was fine (you need to download Microsoft Checksum Integrity Verifier and check the SHA-1 for your ISO and see if it matches the description in [1] )
  • Using vs_community.exe / Layout (from Web Installer, also from mounted ISO)
More details in [2] and [3]
    eg.

     vs_community.exe /PromptRestart /CustomInstallPath "<visual studio installation directory" /L <path for log file> /InstallSelectableItems VSU;VS_SDK_Breadcrumb_GroupV5;NativeLanguageSupport_VCV1;NativeLanguageSupport_MFCV1;NativeLanguageSupport_XPV1;PythonToolsForVisualStudio;WebToolsV1;PowerShellToolsV1;GitHubVSV1;OfficeDeveloperToolsV1`
  • Apply update 3 when I have VS2015 CE Update 2 installed

What worked for me:

  • Start → Enter “Settings” → Update and Security → Recovery → Reset on this PC (with uninstalling applications, etc.)

I assume this has something to do with Registry + residuals in the installation disk.

What you can try:

  • Start → Enter “Settings” → Update and Security → Recovery → Reset on this PC (with uninstalling applications, etc.)
  • I recommend using RevoUninstaller , as it also helps you remove leftovers from the registry (you can also use other applications, this is just a recommendation).
This would be an alternative to “Reset this PC” (I'm not sure if this will work).
The idea is that it worked on the same computer with a fresh installation of Windows 10 Pro (without first installing Visual Studio 2015 CE).
  • Removal using vs_community.exe / Uninstall / Force (for more details see [4] )
  • Install using the Web Installer or ISO Microsoft Visual Studio Community 2015 , and then use the Visual Studio 2015 Update 3 Web Installer Update or Visual Studio 2015 ISO Update 3
  • You can also look at Autoruns for Windows v13.62 and see if there is anything related to Visual Studio. If yes, try deleting these keys using regedit
