I am looking for some tips here. First of all, I am an interface developer. I am trying to figure out how the algorithm can be used to count the kernels on a piece of corn.
From my initial research, there seem to be several different directions. The main ones that I saw are SIRF type implementations, while others require conversion to HSV or LAB color space in order to normalize and then count.
For reference, it is generally believed that corn is considered “crushed” corn. Here is an example: 
This will be implemented in VB.net, but I can always translate the algorithm if necessary.
