Since Parse announced that it is closing its cloud services, I play with the idea of creating my own push notification server, preferably in .NET. I did some research, but so far I have not found anything useful in creating a custom notification server.
What I found is Google Cloud Messaging . GCM seems to meet my needs, as I have to support push for both iOS and Android. In addition, he does not have any serious restrictions and seems to be completely free.
The whole idea, however, would be to not be dependent on another third-party service, such as Analysis or Google, because I need this for many projects, and you cannot change it when the provider decides that they close down.
I would rather create my own notification server, but to be honest, Google Cloud Messaging looks really good. Is this possible within a reasonable amount of time in the .NET / .NET Web API?
