In accordance with the official AppFabric block, support is supported until 2017.

They also recommended how to port AppFabric services to new Azure offerings, for example, using Azure Redis Cache caching scripts.

Services have been renamed. Microsoft originally used the AppFabric tag for two different things:

  • Windows AppFabric Server (local computer)
  • Windows Azure AppFabric (cloud services)

In 2012, Microsoft dropped the AppFabric tag from its Azure offerings:

  • AppFabric Cache -> Cache (
