Shortcuts with the name "Uninstall <Program Name>" do not appear in Windows 8 / 8.1 / 10
Using the MSI installer, we create application shortcuts in the operating systems Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10. Along with application shortcuts, we also create a shortcut for uninstalling the program.
Shortcut path to Win7: [ProgramsMenuFolder] \ Company Name \ ProductName \
Shortcut path to Win8 / 8.1 / 10: [ProgramsMenuFolder] \ ProductName \
The uninstall shortcut appears on Win7, but on Win8 and above, this shortcut does not appear for several products.
I found a blog that says that in Win8 + shortcuts with the name uninstall are automatically removed by the OS. http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=378327
Can anyone point to any Microsoft documentation on this issue or even recommendations for creating shortcuts?
In accordance with this document https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/jj67393981%28v=vs.85%29.aspx , this is indicated below.
NOT: Do not add shortcuts to the following items on the Start screen: (previous document says the same about StartMenu http://www.2brightsparks.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=7624 )
- Uninstallers Users can access the uninstallers through the "Programs" item in the control panel.
- Help files. Include help topics directly in your application.
- Settings and application settings. Enable the user interface to configure application settings in the application or create a control panel item.
- Web sites. Provide any relevant links to information such as help and technical support sites directly in your application.
- Wizards. Wizards and other one-time setup tasks must be run from within the application.
The following is another Microsoft documentation that talks about creating shortcuts for programs only, and it is recommended that you use Add or Remove Programs to remove / restore / change actions.

The behavior of shorcuts displayed for multiple products is explained in the next blog. http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=378327
