IIS Express does not work after installing VS2015

I just installed VS2015 on my machine, and some of the new templates I realized that IIS Express is not working.

I tried a previously working MVC solution in VS2012, but this also does not work now. Before I installed VS2012, it definitely worked as I use it daily.

It will launch Internet Explorer / Edge / Chrome, but in the title bar of the tab, it simply says “waiting for localhost”. I left it for 5-10 minutes, and he still cannot find it.

After reading many other StackOverflow queries, I tried various changes to the application settings (which I cannot remember) and delete the IIS Express directory, but it has no effect.

I also created a new empty MVC solution in VS2012 to make sure that it is associated with the solution, and this also does not work.

I had a similar problem, but I used VS2013. Uninstall IIS Express 10 and install IIS Express 8. Download here: Download IIS 8.0 Express

I was tearing my hair off with a similar problem when I created the MVC web application in VS 2015 and then created and launched it. In the end, it opens in the browser and sometimes works (for several minutes), then IE 11 freezes and nothing happens, no errors either. In the end, I found this post, and I can say that it seems to have worked for me too, so many thanks. I have done the following:

  • Remote IISExpress folder in documents.
  • Almost everything in the temp% temp% folder has been deleted (it may not be necessary, but ...)
  • I went to the control panel \ Programs \ Turn Windows features on and off and turn on IIS.
  • I launched the VS2015 project and opened it much faster, without visible problems.
