Compress APK for smaller file size

The apk file size for my application is quite large. Is it possible to reduce the file size using the best compression level or another compression mechanism such as lzma ( https://software.intel.com/en-us/android/articles/native-library-compression-sdk-for-android-apps )?

To just answer your question:
Yes, use lzma.

Ok, now some other recommendations.

  • Assembly in release mode. This is very important, because the size of the application when building in debug mode can be much larger than when building in release mode.
  • Image Compression Often when creating an application, you really do not look at the size of the images, and usually they are usually the main problem related to the size. Just opening them, say paint.net, and saving them again with lower quality can help a lot.
  • Compressing audio files. Upload them to audacity and export them as MP3s of lower quality.

Here are some of my small recommendations. If you need your apk to be even smaller, I would suggest trying google

Maybe you should take a look at Crosswalk Lite , which is a thin version of Crosswalk with fewer features, but retaining excellent performance,
The project still does not have a stable version (Still in Canary channel), which will be used for production, like a regular Crosswalk.

I think Crosswalk Lite will be a great solution for problems like Yours, perhaps in the near future.
