User '' does not have the required permissions, SSRS 2008 on Windows 8

When you try to log in to the SSRS root site at http: // (server name) / Reports, it displays:

User '' does not have the required permissions. Ensure that you have sufficient permissions and that Windows User Account Control (UAC) restrictions have been removed.

This is a 64-bit version of Windows 8 Pro running SQL Server 2008. Everything should use the local system as the execution account.

I tried to change the execution account as my administrator user, I added the site as a trusted site, my UAC is completely disabled, I tried to get to the site using IE AS ADMIN , Chrome and Firefox. Everything I tried on the site claims that I have no rights. I am switching to SQL Server and guaranteeing that my roles are everything for my user. It does not matter. I am currently reinstalling SSRS node to install SQL Server, but I'm curious if anyone else has this problem.

I will try to change my account to a "local" account, since I think this may be a problem, but I do not understand why SQL Server can fully recognize my login. Honestly, I have never come across this, and I wonder if this is only a problem with Windows 8, access to SQL Server 2008. I would update it, but I have the full version of SQL Server 2008, not 2012, so I don’t I decide to just upgrade if Express 2012 comes with Business Intelligence Development Studio and the SSRS site with tools.

Well, that really annoys what needs to be done, but here.

From what I read in Windows 8, the default admin account is not allowed by default.

Usually I do not use this account, but in this case I was desperate, because my account could not log in.

I understand that ONLY YOU ENTER, you can set the site’s settings, which doesn’t help if you don’t even see the main landing page of the site to see this setting.

The steps I took for the final decision were:

  • Remove SSRS Node COMPLETELY by going to Control Panel> SQL Server 2008> Delete> Check Reporting Services
  • Enable the default administrator account: command prompt> run as administrator> network user administrator p @ ssw0rD, press enter.
  • New line: net user administrator / active: yes
  • Reboot
  • Reinstall SSRS from disk when logged in as the default administrator.
  • Install SP3 as Administrator
  • Go to IE.exe RIGHT NOW in Windows 8: C: \ Program Files \ Internet Explorer \ iexplore.exe> ​​Run as administrator.
  • Go to http: // (server_name) / Reports
  • You MUST now be able to finally see the site settings. NOW YOU CAN VISIT all directions of adding YOUR USER in accordance with the settings of the site. Also go to folder permissions and add the default user here.
  • (optional) For security, I would have hidden the default administrator account now, using step 2, but replacing / active: no.

If your chief administrator cannot open the door, no one gets in. That was the main question I had. My default administrator was unable to log in. Now everything works fine and dandy, as when deploying from BIDS.

Windows 8

  • Disable UAC
  • Enable administrator account (you can go to Control Panel> Computer Management> Users)
  • Reboot the computer.
  • Run the IE ad administrator when prompted to log in to your local administrator account that you have enabled.
  • You will need to configure the protection of site settings and the settings of folders. A simple quick fix simply adds ā€œEverythingā€ to both of them with full rights.

I came across the same issue, but with Windows 7 and SQL Server 2008. I solved the problem by following the instructions from the Suresh Kumar blog at http://skamie.wordpress.com/2010/06/24/ssrs-and-uac/

In brief, here are the steps you need to take to solve this problem:

Launch your browser using run as administrator.

Go to Report Manager and in the "Site Settings" → "Security" section, assign your account or group of local administrators to the "System Administration" role.

Then go to your home folder, and according to security settings, assign your account or group of local administrators to the roles of browser, Conent Manager, My Reports, Publisher, and Report Builder.

Now you can start your browser as usual and access SSRS without any problems.

I had the same problem on my Windows 8 system (32-bit) with SQL Server 2008R2. When I started IE using "run as Administrator", it still asked for the username and password and led to the fact that "the user does not have access rights" when I entered my username and password. This is what fixed it for me:

I disabled UAC in the registry (set HKLM \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ System \ EnableLUA to 0). First I set the notification level in the "Control Panel" | System and Security | Change the user account control to the lowest level, but it does not matter.

After rebooting, I started using IE using "run as Administrator". Went to Report Manager | Site Settings | Security: added my account as a system administrator.

Back in the report manager, I went to Home | Folder settings and added my account in the role of Content Manager.

I turned on UAC through the control panel | System and Security | Change your user account management settings to the default level again. (Reboot required)

When I run IE as an administrator and provide my username and password, it shows the report manager home page.

Windows 8.1

I solved this with Austin McLaughlin's answer posted earlier. In my case, I logged in with a local account with administrator privileges, but tried to http://127.0.0.1/Reports (hereinafter referred to as "Service Manager reporting"), it gives an error reported by OP.

The key for me was that the administrator account was disabled by default on my Windows 8.1 laptop. Please note that initially I did not have Windows 8.1 Pro, so in the "Computer Management" section there was no "Local Users and Groups". So I had to buy Windows 8.1 Pro Pack through MS for $ 100.

  • In Windows Explorer, right-click on the node computer and select Manage.
  • Go to local users and groups> Users
  • Right-click on "Administrator" and select "Properties"
  • Cancel "Account Disabled"
  • Reboot the computer.
  • Log in to the PC as an administrator (I don’t need to enter a password for the administrator account when I log in for the first time.)
  • On your desktop, launch IE. Of course, there is no need to start as an Administrator, since you are logged in as an Administrator.
  • Go to Reporting Services Manager.

At this point, you must log in to the report manager and on the main screen. I couldn’t do this before.

  1. On the home screen, click "Assign New Role"
  2. In the "Group or username" enter the local administrator account that you use for development; ie: [yourmachine] \ [username]
  3. Select all the checkboxes (the shortcut should click the checkmark to the left of the "Role") and click "OK".
  4. At the top right of the page, click "Site Settings."

  9. As a precaution, disable the administrator account that was enabled in step 4.
  10. Log out, then return to your local account from step 10.
  11. In IE, go to Reporting Services Manager. Note. I did not need to run IE as an administrator.
