AVD Galaxy S6, huge icons and fonts

I am creating an AVD for the Galaxy S6. I downloaded the skin and followed the instructions on the Samsung Developer website:

developer.samsung.com/technical-doc/view.do?v=T000000095

However, when I launch my AVD, the fonts and icons are simply massive and unusable. Please see the screenshots for my configuration and how it looks.

Configuration

How is it displayed

Not sure what I'm doing wrong here. Are there any settings with resolution or density that I need to change in order to display them correctly?

I tried a couple of things.

  • If I did not select the downloaded skin from the "Skin" drop-down list (I just select Leather with dynamic hardware controls ), it displays a little better. However, for testing, I want to nail the exact dimensions of the Galaxy S6.

  • I tried to select Real-time Display Scale when I launch AVD, but it only reduces the actual AVD window, does nothing for the actual screen size of the Galaxy S6.

My machine is Windows 7, running on a 1920 x 1200 monitor.

I ran into the same problem, except that my icons were even larger. I found that setting the screen density for the device to ldpi or something lower than the Samsung 560 dpi recommendation fixes the problem. I also had to edit the AVD after making changes to the device for it to work.

Zooming should help with the problem.

In the menu: Tools> Android> AVD Manager

Find your device and click its edit icon. If you change the scale and restart the emulator, it will look much better. Settings screenshot

Zoom did not appear in Android Studio for macOS, the solution for me was

Tools > Android > AVD Manager Samsung Galaxy S6 (AVD) > Edit Icon (Edit this AVD) > Show Advanced Settings > Device Frame > Uncheck: [] Enable Device Frame > Finish

restart the AVD, and the scale on your Samsung Galaxy S6 should be normal.
