Cannot install Android Studio from 1.3.0 to 1.4.0.

On my laptop I had AS version 1.3.2. When 1.4.0 entered the stable channel, I got the usual Update and Reload option.

On my desktop, however, I have AS version 1.3.0. Now he refuses to provide me with an upgrade option here, and instead I only get the opportunity to download the standalone version and basically perform a new installation.

Is there a workaround for this? I want to upgrade the current installation 1.3.0 to 1.4.0.

I manually downloaded the latest version (1.4.0) of zip, extracted it and copied the folders (everything except the plugins) into my older installation, rewriting where necessary.

It worked. Remember that you need to replace the plugins folder, not copy it. So we deleted the folder of old plugins and replaced it with a new one.
