What version of ruby ​​is less buggy?

I recently wrote some complicated ruby ​​scripts that end up failing with segfaults at random times and in random places like nokogiri, mechanize, iconv, timeout. I tried it under 1.9.1 p 129, 1.8.6 p 369 under windows 7 and 1.8.7 under ubuntu, still the same behavior.   • Try jRuby just to see what happens. This can cause some problems with native extensions in all of these libraries.

  • Complete this on the ruby ​​forum.

1.8.6 has been the current version for a long time. 1.9 is the latest version, although it has introduced several incompatibilities with older Ruby programs. 1.8.7 was released as a kind of "bridge" between 1.8 and 1.9, including some new backward compatibility features, but retaining the old interpreter, rather than the new YARV virtual machine.

As for the “less buggy”, I really don't know how to answer that. I have not seen many errors in any version of Ruby. The only thing I can remember is to get a bit from error 1,8,6, but that was many years ago. Why are you sure that the errors are in Ruby, and not with the libraries with which you used it? You say that you encountered errors in three different versions, so it would be wise to look at the different code used.

Cutting a crash and burning like this is not a big problem for me. You get an error message, you talk about it, ask for a stack overflow, or use some other stone or do something else. The main thing I'm worried about is the language giving you the wrong information - for example, incorrect line breaks.

I found that JRuby and Rubinius were guilty of error information errors, but I never came across MRI or YARV. Rubinius examples: 505 and 513 and JRuby 5461 example.

I am working on Small Eigen Collider to detect inconsistencies and segfaults in different implementations.
