Genymotion virtualization engine not found / plugin download canceled on Mac

I downloaded Genymotion, but can't get it to work. I keep getting "virtualization engine not found, plugin loading aborted." I uninstalled and reinstalled it, forcibly quit and restarted it, and looked at the other solutions to no avail. It seems like he got into a snag here .

I work on Mac, OSX Yosemite version 10.10.5.

You need to install Virtualbox to get genymotion to work.

Here is the link to download it https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

I resolved the same issue in Windows 8 by deleting all the old virtual hosts.
It might help someone.

Steps:

  • Open VM Virtual Machine Manager.
  • Go to file → Preferences → Network → Host-only networks
  • Delete all entries in this tab
  • Click OK
  • Restart genymotion

Found this solution in another stackoverflow, but thought I'd help spread the good word. The problem is with the VBoxManager installation on /usr/local/bin , and genymotion expects it in /usr/bin . So create a symbolic link and you are golden:

sudo ln -s /usr/local/bin/VBoxManage /usr/bin

It should also be noted that you should keep track of which version of VirtualBox is recommended to use genymotion. Currently (as of July 31, 2017), 5.0.26 .

I solved this by downloading and installing the latest Virtualbox, and then running Genymotion. Everythnig worked fine. I hope this helps others who are facing the same issue.
