You are having trouble linking Eclipse Juno / Luna / Mars to the Windows 7 taskbar

It seems I can not properly bind the shortcut to Juno. I have never had this problem with earlier versions of Eclipse.

I've already tried this approach. How do I get Eclipse to behave well on the Windows 7 taskbar? But this is not for me.

It happens that when you start eclipse.exe, the new bright Juno icon is displayed on the taskbar, but when it loads and I select the workspace, the icon switches to the “Java EE IDE” envelope and fixes this icon not working.

Does anyone have the same problem?

I had the same problem: the eclipse juno icon first appeared, and then the old eclipse ide ee icon in the Windows taskbar. I searched for png files in the eclipse plugin folder and tried to identify the new and old icons.

I found that the old ones were from eclipse-juno \ plugins \ org.eclipse.epp.package.jee_1.5.0.20120131-1544 on my computer, and the new ones were located in eclipse-juno \ plugins \ org.eclipse.platform_4.2.0 .v201206081400.

In the epp jee folder, I backed up the javaee-ide_x16, _x32 and _48 files and then copied the eclipse_16, _32 and _48 png icons from the org.eclipse.platform folder into the epp jee folder and renamed them to javaee-ide_x16, _x32 and _48.

After that I restarted eclipse juno and the taskbar icon became new shiny.

Hope this helps, Greetings

I ran into the same problem. I did a couple of things:

1. Add this to the top of eclipse.ini

-vm C:/Program Files/Java/jre6/bin/server

2. Installed eclipse definitions - by checking for updates using eclipse. I still have not received the pin option (icon showed Java EE)

3.Updated Windows and restarted my system.

And voila! It worked! I hope he does it for you too!

If you create a shortcut that points to an executable file, you can link the shortcut to the taskbar.

Ganeshk solution did not work for me. Then I found an easy solution on Eclipse Bugzilla .

You need to bind the running instance of Eclipse , then it will behave as expected.

The accepted answer works. However, it changes the function icon that appears in the About Eclipse panel, which then encounters a function for Eclipse.org .

To get the Java EE IDE badge in the About panel for the Eclipse Packaging Project , edit the about.ini file, which is in the same folder as the badges and is updated with " featureImage = " to point to the old _x32 badge.

Hurrah!

After a little experimentation, it seems that the bright Juno icon will appear if you install Eclipse with bare bones, but if you install the Java or Java EE version (which you have, Olle), then this icon is overwritten in the taskbar immediately after loading the software providing. I am also disappointed that I cannot have a shiny new taskbar icon, but I need Java plugins and I don't want to install them manually to get a good icon.

First of all, have you confirmed that your installation really uses the virtual machine specified in eclipse.ini (by checking it in the about dialog → Installation information → Configuration) and that this is really a version of the DLL for the JVM, not an executable?

And can you check if this works for you with the classic (or even binary platform) Juno download? This might sound silly, but your note about it with a different icon after launch (due to the Juno package you chose) made me think that Windows might somehow confuse these different icons.

this worked fine for me ... but not at first ... because I added the lines to the end of eclipse.ini ... you should add it as the first lines

This worked for me:

1 - Copy / paste the executable file "eclipse.exe" to the desktop

2 - binding to the taskbar

3 - Delete the executable file on the desktop

4 - Right-click the eclipse icon on the taskbar> right-click the eclipse icon in the list> Properties

5 - Change the path to the executable file (target: .... / eclipse.exe) and change the directory (Start in :)

Strange, but it works for me !!!

You can snap it by right-clicking on the executable shown in the explorer window.

I also had Eclipse (3.7.2), already attached in the taskbar. This shortcut was pointing to the same VM as the new Eclipse (4.2.0). I had to disable 3.7.2, and then the REBOOT operating system. Otherwise, Windows will not allow me to connect the new Eclipse. The right click even started, so there were no options for displaying on the screen!

If I let the old pin on 3.7.2 in the taskbar and then run 4.2.0, after loading my workspace, the active icon on the taskbar always changed to pin 3.7.2. So ... well, I think you need to undo your old Eclipse (if that is the case), reboot your OS, and then you open and pin your new Eclipse. Perhaps restart explorer.exe to do the trick?

Just one note, I removed the pin in 3.7.2. I don't know if you can have multiple pins for Eclipses multiplication with the same -vm argument.

--- Edit ---
No, restarting "explorer.exe" does not work. =)

If you have already installed eclipse Locate the eclipse.exe file on your computer, then create a shortcurt or write it in the taskbar.

If you have not installed eclispse. downlaod in the correct version ( http://eclipse.org/ ) and install.
