Iconv or mbstring?

Which multibyte library should I use: iconv or mbstring ?

After some Googling, I did not find enough arguments to convince me to use it in particular, and I could not get any benchmark (and I'm too lazy to create one: -p).

In the end, maybe this choice doesn't matter?

I try to use a combination of both - depending on my needs. I use iconv to convert from one encoding to another, but mbstring for simpler operations like mb_strtoupper () and mb_stristr (). But if you need only one of the libraries, I suggest using mbstring exclusively for its widespread functions and ease of use.
