Reset IntelliJ default user interface

I rate the IntelliJ IDE. I changed some display / font settings (by the way) and would like to reset the user interface back to default. Is there an easy way to reset the display of the UI back to the default settings?

Latest Versions

Window -> Restore Default Layout

(Thanks Reply Seven4X )

Old versions

You can simply delete the entire configuration folder ${user.home}/.IntelliJIdea60/config , while IntelliJ IDEA is not running. The next time you restart, everything will be restored from the default settings.

It depends on the OS:

On Mac OS for IntelliJ v12, turn off the IDE and then you can run:

 rm -rf ~/Library/Preferences/IdeaIC12/*

Restart the IDE or open pom.xml of your choice. You will be asked if you want to import settings from an existing IntelliJ instance. Select "No, I do not have a previous version of IntelliJ version."

You can delete the IDEA configuration directory to reset to default values. If you want to reset the Colors & Fonts editor, then simply switch the scheme to the default value.

All of the above answers are correct, but you have lost the configuration settings.

But if your themes or IDE-only fonts are changed or some UI-related issues and you want to restore the default theme, just delete

$ {user.home} /. IntelliJIdea13 / config / options / options.xml

while the IDE is not running, after the next reboot, the IDE theme will default to reset.

To switch between color schemes: select "View" → "Quick Switch Scheme" in the main menu or press Ctrl + Back Quote To return to the old theme: Settings → Appearance → Theme

check if this works for you.

File → Settings → (enter the type in the search field) and select “Appearance → Select“ Intellij ”from the“ Theme on the right ”drop-down list (in the“ Interface Settings ”section).

Hope this helps someone.

Existing answers are out of date. Now this can be done from the menu:

Window -> Restore Default Layout (shift + f12)

Make sure that nothing is currently running, since the layout of the Run / Debug window will not reset otherwise.
