Xcode 6 side view

My Xcode is acting really weird, the normal side view of the editor looks upright, instead of the usual behavior in which it becomes like tabs.

Clicking the two circles (top right) adds the second editor view like this ..

I understood why the assistant did not behave as before. It seems the settings were mixed up after upgrading to Xcode 6.

This is where you can change where the assistant view places itself.
