Google Hangouts SMS Update does not work for sms_body or Intent.EXTRA_TEXT

Question

After yesterday’s update on Google Hangouts (December 15, 2014), the attempt to prefill the body / message for SMS does not work.

sendIntent.putExtra("sms_body", text); sendIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_TEXT, text); 

Does anyone have a solution to fix this or will we have to wait for an update from Google?
