Atom will not look for files (ctrl-p) that are not in the current git repository (gray folders). I really need this function, and the files I need to search for (working environment files) are in gray folders where ctrl-p (file search) does not reach.

Fuzzy Finder ignores files that are ignored by your VCS by default (Git in your case).

You can change this behavior by removing the "Exclude VCS Ignored Paths" checkbox in the general settings:

You can select Find - Find File from the Atom menu to search for files.
