Jam when uninstalling Visual Studio 2013 Update 3

I can not remove VS 2013 Update 3 from the "Control Panel" → "View installed updates." You will see the message "Visual Studio 2013 Udpate 3 (KB2829760) has stopped working." How can I completely remove all VS update items?

It is best to uninstall Visual Studio and then reinstall it. I still have not heard about this error, and a Google search does not help in this matter.

A few things you could try:

  • Visual Studio Disk Recovery is installed (right-click on the disk, locate and run the Scan for Errors tool.
  • Starting the computer in Safe Mode and trying to uninstall update 3
  • If you do not have a legal license for Visual Studio 2013, it may be Microsoft saying "bugger off". In this case, buy a legal copy of Visual Studio 2013 or download Visual Studio 2013 Community Edition .
  • Restore your system to the state in which it was installed before installing version 5.0 for Visual Studio 2013.
  • Try removing all traces of Visual Studio 2013 (other than your projects) with a tool such as CCleaner or Soft Organizer.
  • Uninstall / deactivate any extensions installed in Visual Studio

There are several ways to do this.

On the installation media or from which it can be started:

 vs_<enterprise/ultimate etc>.exe /uninstall /force

Alternatively, you can use the Visual Studio Uninstaller provided by MS for this purpose. https://github.com/Microsoft/VisualStudioUninstaller

I used the / force option when VS 2013 was not removed from programs and functions and just hung.

Note: Visual Studio 2013 and Visual Studio 2015 may sometimes freeze when they are removed. If you use the command above, my experience is simply to let them go, and ultimately he will cleanse himself.

Here is what I did:

  • Remove all packages from VS. Instead of “Delete,” select “Change,” uncheck and check.
  • Restart in safe mode. Just safe mode.
  • The problem is that the installer is not available in safe mode. To run it:
    REG ADD "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\MinimalMSIServer" /VE /T REG_SZ /F /D "Service"
    and then
    net start msiserver
  • run again. Now most of the VS is removed. But not all.
  • So I had to restart again and finish Uninstall normally.
