Is the terminal IDE app for Android compatible with Lollipop?

I just ordered the Nexus 9 and will use it for programming. Has anyone tried to run the Terminal IDE on Nexus 9 or on any other devices using Android 5.0 Lollipop?

The "links" browser included in the Terminal IDE works fine on my Nexus 5 under KitKat, but it crashes with the PIE error mentioned in Lollipop. In addition, the Terminal IDE for me works flawlessly for about a year. Sorry - forgot to add: the IDE terminal under Lollipop is “stopped” if it is running from the Android keyboard or switches to the Android keyboard. It will resume operation if the keyboard option of the IDE terminal is switched.

7175 recompiled all terminal IDE binaries statically, so they do not give a PIE error on Android 5+. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57292384&postcount=68 (dec 2014)

7175 recommends downloading apk from the next Dropbox, then unpacking (apk - zip) and copying only the binaries you need (instead of downloading the entire apk). https://www.dropbox.com/s/h2d23ecbrt2akeu/terminalide-2.02-binary-mod-signed.apk?dl=0

I downloaded this and its vim worked on my old 4.2.2 Android phone, but I really haven't tried it on Android 5+! (I do not have it, I am studying my update path).

On lease, one stackoverflow user uses it: Failure to reinitialize a previously failed class error when loading a class with dalvikvm

The question is in the answer : Does anyone know how to validate these binaries is safe? Especially ssh - loading a “secure” shell from an anonymous user hits the target!

The background of the message looks 100% legitimate and has 467 "thanks" (wait for all 7175 messages, in this only one received only 2 "thanks" ...) - presumably the people who downloaded it and found it without any problems. But the site seems dodgey ( http://forum.xda-developers.com ) with lots of announcements and security warnings. Maybe they recently, after these older posts, and xda used to be good?

The Terminal IDE addresses people who don’t want to run their phones, who probably don’t want to download applications or download anonymous binary files from the Internet. I think the Play Store is doing some rudimentary verification, and the more people use it, the more likely problems are. So it would be encouraging if spartacusrex could release this on the Play Store as an update - either the 7175 will release a new plug .... or someone else will release it. Viking is one of the strengths of open source!

By the way: I feel very bad, doubting 7175 good and wonderful works, but, unfortunately, security is a real problem. :(

Edit: It looks like it doesn’t work on all new devices, maybe the incompatibility of the SDK version for the target audience? The Terminal IDE should work on at least some other devices, since it uses statically compiled binaries to run various parts of it. Statically compiled binaries are a PIE (position-independent executable file) safe, which is a prerequisite for candy. I ran it on lollipop assembly with my Galaxy Nexus without any problems.

EDIT2: There are also several binaries that are dynamically linked and are not PIE, so they will not work.

No, but termux seems to be a good replacement for the IDE terminal for Lollipop - and is under active development. Has vim, ssh, git, gcc, etc. And the apt-get version.

[It only works in Android 5+, so I have not tried this myself yet.]
