Can I switch the keyboard on the iOS Simulator to the screen?

I test the application using KIF, and every time the test starts, I have to manually switch the soft keyboard and not use the script to enable it, is there a way to enable it by default when the simulator opens?

No, this is not something that can get stuck on or off. The behavior is exactly like a bluetooth keyboard connected to a physical device. Since in the real case there is no "always on" switch, there is also no "always on" in the case of a simulator.

The switch / shortcut in the sim menu behaves exactly like pressing an eject key on a physical keyboard / device.

The key was double for us

  • Make sure the "Connect hardware keyboard" checkbox is selected. By default, when you click in a text field, this prevents the soft keyboard from appearing.
  • Press Cmd + K to switch the soft keyboard. If he did not appear earlier, he will appear now.

Once you're done, leave the sim in this state. This state is easiest to work with, because you can enter it using a hardware keyboard, and a software keyboard will appear, so KIF will work.
