LINQ equivalent in Java 8

Is there a LINQ equivalent in java 8? Is the lambda expression filling this role?

The Java Stream API is the closest to .NET LINQ, in the sense that it allows you to query / manage collections in a functional style.

No, lambda expressions are not equivalent to LINQ. LINQ (at least parts of it) uses lamba expressions for some functions. But these are fundamentally different things.

  • Lambda expressions: expressions used as anonymous functions
  • LINQ: language integrated query.
