How to enable xdebug on HHVM 3.3.0?

I am trying to configure remote debugging for my virtual Ubuntu 14.04.

I have included xdebug on my HHVM 3.3.0 by adding it to server.ini :

 hhvm.xdebug-not-done.enable=1 hhvm.xdebug-not-done.remote_enable=1 

But this does not work for me. Should I follow any other steps to make it work?

HHVM 3.3 is no longer supported, however with HHVM 3.4 you do not need -not-done in your configuration (yes, it is stable!). for instance

 xdebug.enable=1 xdebug.remote_enable=1 xdebug.remote_connect_back=1 xdebug.idekey="PHPSTORM" xdebug.remote_host="localhost" xdebug.remote_port=9089
