Recently, we launched our application, which is sold through the App Store and on our website.
The fact is that we also need to create a trial version.
On the conceptual side , what should be limited in the trial version (given that the application is a multi-purpose code editor):
- Limited time use
- Limited functionality? Which one?
Regarding the practical side of things:
- Are there any Cocoa frameworks that help create a trial version?
- Is there a risk (and what should we do about it) that the trial version can be “updated” through the App Store, as if it were purchased in the normal mode?
Any ideas / input are more than welcome, especially if you've already done this before!
PS I know this may seem like an “opinion-based” question (and I would not mind if you shared yours, to be honest). However, it is not. What I'm looking for is pointers / examples of similar attempts or Cocoa's approach. Friendly approach.
