How to add bookmark icon in HTML5 for Safari 8.0?

Below is the minimal sample code that I use for my favicon website. It appears as an icon in the address bar of Safari 8.0, but it does not appear in the drop-down favorites list that appears when you click on the address bar when it is added as a bookmark. Instead, the default compass icon appears. What do I need to add or change in my HTML5 to show the icon in the drop-down list?

<!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <link rel="icon" type="image/png" href="/favicon-32x32.png" sizes="32x32"> </head> <body> </body> </html>

I figured out how to add an icon to the favorites drop-down list in Safari 8.0 by looking at other sites that display the icon. I'm not sure why it works, but it works for me and the other websites that I looked at. Remember to indicate that the icon is a shortcut, the type is the image / x icon, and the file is an ICO.

 <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/x-icon" href="/favicon.ico"> </head> <body> </body> </html>

Try increasing the size of the icon (for example, 144x144 px).

it seems that when the link is placed outside the <head>, the icon will be displayed for bookmarks, but will not work on the main screen.
