Facebook Open Graph Date Format

When creating a meta tag for article:published_time or og:updated_time , in what format should I put the time. Some Facebook docs say it should be in the Unix era, and other documentation suggests it should be in ISO 8601.

<meta property="og:updated_time" content="1414056907" /> or

<meta property="og:updated_time" content="2013-01-22T09:10:08+0100" />

Thank you for that.

I recommend using the ISO 8601 date format as indicated in the official OpenGraph documentation (see here: http://ogp.me/#data_types ).

I successfully tested it with the facebook sharer function to get the finder to get a new image.

Although I agree with the logic of the last answer, when using the tool in https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object/ we see that the read meta tag

<meta property="og:updated_time" content="2015-04-07T13:19:06-04:00" />

converts to 1428432011 when FaceBook reads it.

This does not mean that use an integer value. However, if Facebook is the reason you're curious, it doesn't seem to matter.
