I had the same issue with pow.cx on my two macbooks after upgrading OSX to Yosemite.
First, one of the two Mac computers is fixed by pow
curl get.pow.cx/uninstall.sh | sh curl get.pow.cx | sh
He fixed one of the two computers.
Then , for the second mac, pow is fixed by deleting the network configuration and preference file. Manually processing network file files should be your first troubleshooting line. This is one of those tricks that consistently fixes even the most stubborn wireless issues on Mac. A Yosemite update may have a damaged preferences file. Follow these steps:
- Disable Wi-Fi from the Wireless menu item
- Go to search
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ In this folder, find and select the files: com.apple.airport.preferences.plist com.apple.network.identification.plist com.apple.wifi.message-tracer.plist
NetworkInterfaces.plist
preferences.plist
Move all of these files to a folder on your desktop called βwifi backups or something like thatβ, supporting them just in case you break something, but if you back up your Mac regularly, you can simply delete files, not you can recover from Time Machine if you need
- Reboot the Mac. This causes OS X to recreate all network configuration files.
- Re-enable WI-Fi from the wireless menu.
For more information on steps, see Fix Wi-Fi issues in OS X Yosemite.
This problem cost me 4 hours.
