Internet Explorer 11 does not support such an interface with the javascript window.open () function

I have two machines at work: both Windows 7 64 Bit machines with Internet Explorer 11 . When visiting any sites using the javascripts window.open() command, the following error occurs:

this interface is not supported

and the requested page never opens.

Examining this if you discover that Microsoft claims that the latest cumulative update for Internet Explorer was installed to install this problem:

It is already installed on both systems with a problem. This error still occurs even if the IE patch is installed. In this case, all current MS updates / patches were installed on both systems.

Any ideas on this? Not sure what else to try? Of course, they can use firefox or chrome, but sometimes IE should be used ... Argg !!!

UPDATE

It looks like IE version 11.9.9600.17280 does not have this problem, but version 11.0.12 . We will work on 64-bit Windows 7 machines.
