Java 8 on Cloud9

Can I install JDK 8 on Cloud9? Java 7 is already installed:

samueller@test :~/workspace $ javac -version javac 1.7.0_55 samueller@test :~/workspace $ java -version java version "1.7.0_55" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.4.7) (7u55-2.4.7-1ubuntu1) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.51-b03, mixed mode)

I usually prefer webupd8 PPA because they keep Oracle Java as fresh as possible, so I can get the latest version of Oracle Java without worrying about making changes to the version number.

To install PPP Webupd8, you just need to follow this tutorial, and in the end you can do apt-get install oracle-java8-set-default .

This post I found on Google downloaded jdk8 linux 64 ubuntu answers your question. Using:

 $ wget --header "Cookie: oraclelicense=accept-securebackup-cookie" \ http://download.oracle.com/otn-pub/java/jdk/8u20-b26/jdk-8u20-linux-x64.tar.gz

and follow the instructions to install it.
