.htaccess or .htpasswd equivalent to IIS?

Does anyone know if there is an equivalent of .htaccess and .htpassword for IIS? I will be asked to migrate the application to IIS, which uses .htaccess to control access to file sets in different URLs based on the contents of the .htaccess files.

I did a google search and did not find anything convincing. Is there a general approach or tool I need to purchase that provides this opportunity?

There is no direct equivalent to 1: 1.

You can password protect a folder or file using file system permissions. If you use ASP.Net, you can also use some of the built-in functions to protect various URLs.

If you are trying to migrate .htaccess files used to rewrite URLs, check ISAPI Rewrite: http://www.isapirewrite.com/

I never used it, but Trilead , a free ISAPI filter that includes a .htaccess based control, looks the way you want.

This is the documentation you want: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa292114(VS.71).aspx

I think there is an answer, yes, there is an equivalent that will do the same thing, integrated with Windows security.
