You need your Build Automatically to be included / checked in eclipse for eclipse in order to be able to hot-swap the code.

Click "Project" → "Automatically install." Start a debugging session and the saved changes will be hot.

To view these alerts, go to Debug Settings (go to Debug Settings in the settings) in eclipse, and you will see the "Hot Code Replace" options to enable / disable alerts displayed to the user.
