Random html tag with type = "application / npfido" appearing in the source

I am currently testing the site for compatibility on all platforms.

I noticed that in Chrome on Windows, the following appears in the source code after loading the page:

<embed id="embed_npfido" type="application/npfido" height="0">

To be more specific, this does not appear in the source - it appears when I right-click on a page and select "check item". In addition, it appears immediately before the </body> . The only reason I noticed this cryptic insert is because it is displayed with a width of 300 pixels and a height of 0px, which very noticeably offsets my site 300px to the left.

Has anyone seen this before? I was looking for this problem and nothing worked.

Other information:

  • This only happens on my company’s laptop, which is the Lenovo T440
  • I did not notice this on any other operating system or browser that I tested on
  • The only external resource called on the page is the font from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com).
  • Embedding is a rendering with a width of 300 pixels, which I reset using the following code:
    • embed {display:none;width:0;height:0;padding:0;margin:0;}

I also had this on one of my sites. This seems to be due to the Nok Nok Labs MFAC extension in Google Chrome. I disabled the extension and the insert was deleted.
