WinRT GridView, but no GridViewColumn

I do not have Windows 8 and Metro. My question is based on documentation.

A DataGrid appears, but the ListView and GridView remain. GridViewColumn is gone. I get the tiled character of the Metro. My question is: can a gridview be configured to represent a row column?

I have an application that for the most part will be great on Metro and will benefit from rights contracts. But there is one page, I need an old school GridViewColumn, like a presentation. Thanks

I'm not sure if I got your question. Do you want items added to ListView / GridView to appear in a row? I use the following code to display elements in a horizontal orientation:
