Do I need to check and verify Google Play services when using Google mobile ads?

I have a simple question. I have developed an Android application that uses the AdMob SDK, and now I want to switch to Google Play Services to use Google Mobile Ads.

I integrate the Utilities library, but my question is:

Do I need to check and verify whether the Playback Services are installed on user devices and which version is needed or not when using with the Mobile Ads SDK function from the Services?

Thank!

No , you don’t need to check Google Play Services to use the Mobile Ads API. when creating your application .jar is already included.

The Google Play Services Library even supports devices that don’t have a Google Play store.

Ok, docs say this:

For more information on setting up Google Play services, see the installation instructions and reference documents. The Google Play Services Library even supports devices that don’t have a Google Play store. To update these devices, download and install the latest SDK for Google Play services; then restart the application to distribute updates to your users. Devices that have the Google Play store are automatically updated to the latest version. The Google Play Services Library supports publisher IDs from the old AdMob console and is compatible with existing media adapters.
