Ctrl R not working in SQL Server 2012

In SQL Server 2012, Ctrl + R does not work. Any other shortcuts for this. Are any settings changes available or is there an alternative?

Go to Tools> Options> Environment> Keyboard / General.

Average field

  • Select Window.ShowResultsPane
  • Change the Use new shortcut drop-down menu to SQL Query Editor (Global doesn't work for me)
  • Place the cursor in the "Press shortcut keys:" field and press CTRL + R. You should see the following:

  1. Click Assign, and then OK.

Unlike some other changes that still require a restart of SSMS, this change takes effect immediately and CTRL + R should start working again.

Another way is to select "Default" and press the Reset button. It worked for me.

I am using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio version 11.0.3128.0 (SSMS 2012). Started with the aforementioned problem without any argument. Solved as follows: click "Tools → Options". In the options window, open "Environment → Keyboard on the tree." Then, on the right, click the "Reset" button. Worked for me.

I am using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio version 12.0.4100.1 (SSMS 2014). I had the same problem and resolved it by following these steps -

Click "Tools → Options." In the Options window, expand Environment → Keyboard → Keyboard. Then, in the right sidebar, click the "Reset" button.

Go to the keyboard settings, as indicated in @aaron, and then change the keyboard mapping scheme (first drop out). This gave me shortcuts that I like Ctrl + R and Ctrl + E
