Smart App Banners; Windows Store app HTML equivalent meta tag for Android / Google Play?

Smart application banners are the latest addition to iOS devices in iOS 6. This is due to the simple addition of a meta tag, which when visiting with Mobile Safari checks if the application is on the phone and shows the parameters of whether the visitor wants to launch or install the application.

<meta name="apple-itunes-app" content="app-id=myAppId, affiliate-data=myAffiliateData, app-argument=myArgs" />

The link to the application for the Windows Store works similarly:

 <meta name="msApplication-ID" content="myAppId" /> <meta name="msApplication-PackageFamilyName" content="myMicrosoftAppBuildPackageName" /> <meta name="msApplication-Arguments" content="myArgs" />

Are there any similar agreements for Android Apps / Google Play? With mechanisms for passing arguments?

This is actually not the case. You can register your application to handle specific URLs, such as http: //app.mydomain.tld , although this is somewhat puzzling to more experienced android people. When called, this URL will invoke the application with the full URI (which is the mechanism for transferring data to it). If the application has not been installed or configured to handle these URLs, the browser is then redirected to your server page, which may request installation.
