Where is gacutil.exe in windows 10?

I have Windows 10 Pro 64-bit , Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 and the full Windows 10 SDK , but I could not find gacutil.exe in:

  • Subdirectories of Microsoft Visual Studio 2015
  • Windows 10 SDK Subdirectories
  • C: \ Windows \ Microsoft.NET Subdirectories
  • C: \ Windows \ System32
  • C: \ Windows \ SysWOW64
  • C: \ Program Files \ Reference Assembling Subdirectories
  • Subdirectories C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Reference Assemblies

Don't come, tell me this is a duplicate, please. The other answers do not really answer my question .

Any idea? Thanks in advance!

I had to use the Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 developer command line.

Unfortunately, Microsoft KB is out of date , and they usually give the wrong answers.

Go to StartVisual Studio 2015Developer Command Prompt for VS2015

If you want to find the location of gacutil, then follow these steps:

  • Go to the start menu.
  • A-search and developer command line search

    or
B-find and open Visual Studio 201_ (2,3,5,7) folder
  • click Developer Command Prompt for vs201 (2,3,5,7)

  • Type and type :( where is gacutil)

  • "Developer Command Prompt" will return the location of gacutil.exe

But if you want the dll cache, gacutil location is not needed, just run the "Developer Command Prompt" and type: gacutil / i "dll_path"

On Windows 10, gacutil.exe is located here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v10.0A\bin\NETFX 4.6.1 Tools\gacutil.exe

Please note that the Framework NETFX <version> Tools may vary; if you do not have 4.6.1 installed, you will have a different version installed.

To find out where any EXE comes from in your PATH, you can use the where utility:

Syntax: where <executable.exe>
