Faster file searches in Netbeans

Is there an existing plugin or setting that speeds up the search for "Go To File" in Netbeans? Compared to Eclipse, Netbeans search is too slow, especially if you have several large projects.

I know I can use CTRL + O for "Go To Type", but often I need to look for other file types such as XML, property files, etc. in thousands of files in several projects.

I installed the quick search plugin, but not even looking for file types other than Java.

You can focus on the project tree and simply type in the name of the file you want to find. Press "Up / Down" to select whether multiple files match you.

Or use the keyboard shortcut to open the search file form:

  • Windows / Linux

Alt + Shift + O

  • Mac OS :

Control + Shift + O

How to quickly find file / files in netbeans. Perhaps for someone it will be useful.

  • In the Netbeans project file view, select the directory in which you want to find the file.
  • Press ctrl + f to display the search dialog
  • Pass your file name into "sample file name templates"
  • In the settings only "Regular expression"
  • Input "Containing Text" must be empty

You can install the plugin recent file list

This plugin is not as powerful as intellij, but to simulate the same behavior (open the latest files with ctrl + E):

After installing the plugin, assign the shortcut Ctrl + E for the "Recent Files" action: Tools->Options->Keymap->Search "Recent Files" and assign Ctrl+E shortcut

If you need to search by file name / template, I suggest the plugin "Quick file search" http://plugins.netbeans.org/plugin/70267

Press Ctrl + Shift + H.

The scope option appears on the screen. Click on this text box and select the project that you want to find text fragments, or you can find all the projects. I am using Netbeans 8.1 Best attitude!
