Poor MapKit scroll performance with Apple Maps in iOS 6

I am writing an application that displays a simple Apple map on most screens. However, when I compare the scroll speed, there is a significant slowdown compared to the native Apple cards that ship with iOS 6.

In my research on why, I noticed that the Facebook app (which also uses Apple cards) has the same performance rating.

This is most noticeable on the iPhone 4 with iOS 6.

Does anyone know about the special performance-enhancing step associated with browsing, or the steps you need to take to improve performance? I would like my maps to move as fast as the Apple Maps app.

I had the same problem, and it looks like this could be due to the fact that the device has support enabled.

I posted to the Apple Dev Forums to ask about this for my problems ( my post ), and someone correctly reminded me that many developers complain about sluggish development devices.

So, I went to the Organizer and ignored my device, deleting it, since development is on. I restarted the device and, of course, my MKMapView was much faster. It was slow from time to time, but performance improved significantly.

Try using this device and see if you notice a difference.
