How to configure IntelliJ on two monitors?

I just installed IntelliJ 9.0.2 on a machine with 64-bit Ubuntu 10.04.

How do I get another window to enter the second screen?

I would like to have both an editor and some tool windows on both screens.

IntelliJ 14 onwards you can select the cog settings and mark the floating mode to disable the menu or drag the editor tabs from the main window to disconnect them

If you are working on OSX, you need to make sure that it does not treat screens as separate spaces, otherwise they will snap to the same window as the main editor when switching between windows.

For this untick Displays have separate spaces in the system settings Mission> .

All the "windows" inside IntelliJ, except for the code editor tabs, have the "Float" parameter, which opens an independent window that you can drag anywhere on the screen. This will allow you to manage your IDEA windows as you like.

IntelliJ also allows you to open multiple projects at once. When you open a project with an already open one, you are asked to indicate whether you want it in the current window or "New instance". If you select a new instance, it will open a brand new IntelliJ with another project. This will work for you if you have many projects that you work on right away.

IntelliJ 10 will have drag-and-drop editor tabs . A very nice feature. It is already present in earlier versions of access .
