Is there a Google Glass Android emulator?

Can I define an Android virtual device to use when developing Google Glass applications (until the devices become widely available)?

There is no box emulator.

You can use the playground to preview your maps, this will show you how your map will be laid out depending on what attributes you provided in your object timeline message. On right. Just switch this view to HTML on the right if you want to provide your own HTML template for your maps.

There is no official Glass Emulator yet.

I overcame this by installing the Glass APK on the Nexus 7 tablet.

It worked perfectly:

I have described all necessary steps here: http://www.elekslabs.com/2013/11/google-glass-development-without-glass.html

In fact, I just saw an Engadget article (this morning, I think) that announced that the Google Glass API is now live

Additional links from the Engadget article:

However, as the developer's site indicates, there is nothing special for Android. :-(

Supported platforms at the moment:

  • Java
  • Python
  • Go
  • Php
  • .NET
  • ruby
  • Dart

I’m digging documents today, and as I understand it, you can see what type of code / objects will be sent to the glass using the same code as an example https://glass-java-starter-demo.appspot.com/ (the code is available here https://github.com/googleglass/mirror-quickstart-java )

But the real emulator, so you can see how the Glass screen will look, in fact.

There is an informal mirroring interface that attempts to replicate the behavior of a glass device with existing Google APIs. You can check it out here. I have not tested it yet.

According to Google, Glass should be considered as a unique platform. And applications designed for glass are called Glasswares. And these are almost all web services hosted by GAE. The official statement says:

The Google Mirror API allows you to create web services called Glassware that interact with Google Glass.

Of course, the glass works on ICS Android 4.0.4, which does not mean that you can develop double-glazed windows in the same way as developing Android applications. To sync data between your glass and glass, you need the Google Mirror API.

And at the moment it is in a state of explorer, and only developers and researchers who have google glass have access to the Mirror API. But as @infoman replied, you can use the Scarigami Mirror API and the playground can act as your emulator.
