"JSON" - undefined problem "in IE but not chrome

Question

I get the following error with my jquery ajax call in IE9, where I use Json.stringify ().

Microsoft JScript runtime error: "JSON" - undefined

The same function worked for me until yesterday and still works on my peers machine and on chrome on my machine. But for no apparent reason today I stopped working on my machine.

Can you please help me understand what causes it?

the solution for me was to turn off compatibility mode by clicking the torn page icon to the right of the address bar.

Who knows how it happened in the first place!
