What are some great online database modeling tools?

What is your favorite open source database development / modeling tool?

I am looking for one that supports multiple databases, especially Firebird SQL, but I can not find it on Google.

I used to use DBDesigner . This is an open source tool. You can check it out. Not sure if it fits your needs.

Good luck

You mean the design, as in the "graphical presentation of tables", or simply the old "technical design". If this is the last, use FlameRobin , version 0.9.0 has just been released.

If this is the first, use DBDesigner . Yup that uses Java.

Or maybe you mean something more than MS Access. Then Kexi should be right for you.

S.Lott inserted a comment, but this should be the answer: see the same question .

EDIT

Since this was not as obvious as I expected, here follows a verbatim copy of S. Lott's answer in another question:

I am a big fan of ARGO UML from Tigris.org. Draws beautiful pictures using standard UML notation. It generates several codes, but mostly Java classes that are not SQL DDL, so they may not be close enough to what you want to do.

You can look at Data Modeling Tools and see if anything else is better there than Argo UML. Many of the items on this list are free or cheap.

In addition, if you use Eclipse or NetBeans , there are many plugin designs, some of which may have the features that you are looking for.

I like the Clay Eclipse Plugin. I only used it with MySQL, but it claims to support Firebird.

You can watch IBExpert Personal Edition . Although this is not an open source, it is a very good tool for designing, creating and administering Firebird and InterBase databases.

Personal Edition is free, but some of the more advanced features are not available. However, even without free features, the free version is very powerful.
