How to downgrade Xcode to a previous version?

I sometimes have to use Xcode, and now I have encountered a problem when I upgraded to Xcode 4.6, but the other software that I use does not support it, so I need to return to Xcode 4.5.

I'm not used to the way Macs work in general, so if the answers were written with that in mind, that would be helpful. :)

I assume that you have at least OSX 10.7, so go to the applications folder (click the Finder icon> in the sidebar, you will find "Applications", click on it), remove the "Xcode" icon. This will completely remove Xcode from your system. Reboot your Mac.

Now go to https://developer.apple.com/download/more/ and download the older version of Xcode , and install if necessary. You need an Apple ID to access this portal.

When you log in to your developer account, you can find the link at the bottom of the download section for Xcode that says "Search for an old version of Xcode?" . There you can find download links for earlier versions of Xcode and other developer tools.
