How to speed up left and right arrow keys to edit text?

Is it just me, or do other people believe that the left and right arrow keys on MacOS are unusually slow for text editing?

Compared to my Windows machines, positioning the cursor using the left / right arrow keys seems to take twice as much time on a Mac. The up / down arrows seem fast enough, but the left / right arrows are just scanned. I notice this most in the terminal, editing recently used commands, and I notice it right now, while the text is in browser form.

Is there a Mac preference that I can configure to speed up the response to these keys?

To change how quickly the key is repeated while holding , adjust this parameter:

System Preferences β†’ Keyboard β†’ Keyboard Tab β†’ Keyboard Repeat

To change how long you have to hold it before it registers as repeating , adjust this parameter:

System Preferences β†’ Keyboard β†’ Keyboard Tab β†’ Delay until Repeat
