The ggplotly error: VECTOR_ELT () can be applied only to the "list", and not to "NULL"

I use R 3.3.3both RStudio 1.0.136and the latest versions of all packages.

I get this error with package plotly

> ggiris <- qplot(Petal.Width, Sepal.Length, data = iris, color = Species)
> ggplotly(ggiris)
Error in grid.Call(L_convert, x, as.integer(whatfrom), as.integer(whatto), :
VECTOR_ELT() can only be applied to a 'list', not a 'NULL'

This error no longer occurs after I “print” ggplot:

> ggiris
> ggplotly(ggiris)

This happens not only in RStudio, but also in the Shiny application.

Any clues?

Note. It rather happens with a “fresh” session (immediately after opening RStudio).
