MongoError: failed to connect to server [localhost: 27017] on first connection

Question

I paid membership and uploaded this project . After npm install and node app.js it returns the following error:

Does anyone know what is wrong?

Edit 1: Following the comments, I just installed mongo via brew and did brew services start mongodb and then mongo :

Then in another terminal, I made node app.js , which freezes (and doesn't print anything). Then I use http://localhost:28017 in the browser, it works:

However, how can I see the website?

Edit 2:

Normal process

• install mongo

• brew services start mongodb in terminal

• mongo & (suppose we use the default folder /data/db/ )

• npm start

• see, for example, bin/www for the port number, then use localhost:the_port_number in the browser

You have not started your monogo database. first install mongo install mongo according to your OS https://docs.mongodb.com/v3.0/tutorial/

then follow the instructions on this site: https://docs.mongodb.com/v3.0/tutorial/getting-started-with-the-mongo-shell/

• cd.
• mongod --dbpath "any directory path to run your database"

and then start the node server. It will work fine.

First open another terminal with the run mongod to start your mongoDB

Then run node server npm start again, or if you have "nodemon" then use nodemon
