NodeJS 7: How to show the correct stack trace in Async Mongoose Promises

When I have an error in mongoose promises with bluebird . I do not have the correct line number, which makes it difficult for me to find the error.

 unknownFunction("A")#show me the correct line number in the trace async.timesSeries 100, (index, next) -> unknownFunction("B") #show me only the line number where I catch the error process.on 'uncaughtException', (err)-> console.log err.stack console.trace err throw err

Question: How can I get the correct line number instead of the line number in which the error was detected?

PS: I have found and tried it so far: https://github.com/groundwater/node-stackup But this gives me a lot of unrelated line numbers.

I was on the wrong guess ( https://github.com/petkaantonov/bluebird/issues/1297 ).

This problem was not related to nodejs , it was a mongoose bug, which is closed in a newer version https://github.com/Automattic/mongoose/issues/4209 . In older versions, it would seem that it was necessary to catch an error at the end of the mongoose request.

Decision:

 PatientModel.findOne(newFilterUpdate).exec((err, patient) -> ... ).catch (err)-> console.log "err #{err}"

node-stackup, longjohn, and Bluebird Long Stack Tracing are the best solutions available. I'm not sure what you mean by "this gives me a lot of unrelated line numbers." This gives you a stack trace, so if you have not written all the code and have zero dependencies, then you must see the function calls on lines that you did not write, regardless of whether the operation is asynchronous or not.

Essentially, what these libraries do is simply stitch individual traces of the stack together. Usually JavaScript stack traces will not include anything related to asynchronous operation, only the most recent calls to synchronous functions. These monkey libraries fix most of the methods that can introduce asynchronous behavior (process.nextTick, setTimeout, EventEmitter, etc.). They add code that creates a new stack trace on each of these call sites and stores all this data until an error occurs. It will merge all the saved stack traces together so that you can actually go through all asynchronous operations until you reach the original site.

For any uncaughtException, the server will stop so that the server continues to work, even when there is an unmapped exception that I made, a separate collection is created to store the error, save the error when an uncaught exception occurs and returns.
