Including an external C library with Xcode

I have a built-in C static library (Antlr 3 C library). It is installed correctly and works (i.e. I can just run gcc -o parser lexer.c parser.c -lantlr3c ).

In Xcode, however, I get an error. I added -lantlr3c in the build setup for other linkers.

 ld: library not found for -lantlr3c Command /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/usr/bin/llvm-gcc-4.2 failed with exit code 1

A few other questions that I found here ( 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ), as a rule, are answers focused on Xcode 3. I use Xcode 4.1 in the static iOS library project. I am currently creating unit test material.

Click on your project in the navigator, select the appropriate target and expand the "Linked Frames and Libraries" section. Click the plus, click "Add another ..." and go to the static object.

You must also remove the -lantlr3c flag.

You can use this in other linker flags, but you also need to make sure the path is also in the library search path.

Also make sure that you are building the correct configuration (debug / release / whatever) - you can specify different libraries for the link for each of them, so if you configured it for debugging, but you create it, it obviously will not link.

When you test this lib with gcc on your Mac, you are using its x86 version. The iOS ruler does not find it because you probably did not create a library version.
